Almost all babies spit up some, and this doesn't necessarily mean that your child has acid reflux. However, approximately one-half of all infants under the age of three months will suffer with this condition even if only for a short period of time. </p><p><a id="KonaLink0" target="undefined" class="kLink" style="text-decoration: underline ! important; position: static;" href="http://baby.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Infant_Acid_Reflux#"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 204) ! important; font-weight: 400; position: static;font-family:Arial;font-size:12px;color:#0000cc;" ><span class="kLink" style="border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(0, 0, 204); color: rgb(0, 0, 204) ! important; font-weight: 400; position: static;font-family:Arial;font-size:12px;color:transparent;" >Symptoms</span></span></a> include: </p> <ul><li> spitting </li><li> coughing </li><li> vomiting </li><li> irritability </li><li> pooring feeding </li><li> blood in stools </li></ul> <a name="What_Causes_Acid_Reflux.3F"></a><h2>What Causes Acid Reflux?</h2> <p>Acid reflux occurs when the contents of your baby's tummy back up into the esophagus, which is the tube connecting the mouth to the stomach. The lower esophogeal sphincter is a ring of muscle which is located at the bottom of the esophagus and allows food to enter and gas or air bubbles to escape. When this muscle is open, food can come back up through the esophagus and out of your infant's mouth. This can happen at virtually anytime, but it commonly occurs during a feeding or directly afterwards. </p> <a name="Treatment_of_Acid_Reflux"></a><div id="GoogleADD2" style="clear: right; width: 770px; float: left; padding-bottom: 10px;"><script id="GoogleInputParams" language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- var google_ad_channel = '8460355763'; var google_ad_client = 'pub-3619764495662405'; var google_ad_output = 'js'; var google_ad_type = 'text_image'; var google_skip = '3'; var google_image_size = '468x60'; var google_max_num_ads = '3'; var google_ad_div = '468x60_1'; renderCustomAd('Baby'); ServeCustomGoogleAd('Baby','1463'); --></script> <script language="javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"></script><script>google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad);</script><script language="JavaScript1.1" src="http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-3619764495662405&dt=1248543714036&lmt=1176208496&skip=3&num_ads=3&output=js&correlator=1248543713061&channel=8460355763&url=http%3A%2F%2Fbaby.lovetoknow.com%2Fwiki%2FInfant_Acid_Reflux&ad_type=text_image&image_size=468x60&eid=36814001&ea=0&feedback_link=on&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fbaby.lovetoknow.com%2Fwiki%2FCategory%3AInfants&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fbaby.lovetoknow.com%2Fwiki%2FInfant_Acid_Reflux&frm=0&ga_vid=391641702.1248543558&ga_sid=1248543558&ga_hid=1510585107&ga_fc=true&flash=10.0.22&w=-1&h=-1&u_h=900&u_w=1440&u_ah=872&u_aw=1440&u_cd=32&u_tz=-300&u_his=10&u_java=true&u_nplug=25&u_nmime=113&dtd=11"></script><div class="ad-custom"><p class="heading"><a href="http://services.google.com/feedback/abg?url=http://baby.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Infant_Acid_Reflux&hl=en&client=ca-pub-3619764495662405&adU=www.sleepsense.net&adT=Get+Your+Infant+To+Sleep&adU=www.Rewards.Enfamil.com&adT=Enfamil+Baby+Formula&adU=www.Mylicon.com&adT=Crying+Baby&done=1">Ads by Google</a></p><p class="ad"><a class="headline" href="http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/aclk?sa=l&ai=Bhhy84kNrSqXsCYP2jQSA1KyLC8H45znFkLOSBMCNtwHgiRwQARgEIIT49QEoAzgAUJ_1ufkBYMmW94zkpKwToAHdtb_-A7IBE2JhYnkubG92ZXRva25vdy5jb226AQk0Njh4NjBfanPIAQHaATJodHRwOi8vYmFieS5sb3ZldG9rbm93LmNvbS93aWtpL0luZmFudF9BY2lkX1JlZmx1eIACAakCawhnUvjcrj6oAwHoA_4E6ANz6AOFBfUDAAAABA&num=4&sig=AGiWqtyMFlKZ6CY6FoB27aPNZ3CC3BPVvA&client=ca-pub-3619764495662405&adurl=http://www.sleepsense.net/assessment" onmouseout="window.status=''" onmouseover="window.status='go to www.sleepsense.net';return true">Get Your Infant To Sleep</a> - Step-by-step program teaches any infant to sleep through the night! <a class="url" href="http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/aclk?sa=l&ai=Bhhy84kNrSqXsCYP2jQSA1KyLC8H45znFkLOSBMCNtwHgiRwQARgEIIT49QEoAzgAUJ_1ufkBYMmW94zkpKwToAHdtb_-A7IBE2JhYnkubG92ZXRva25vdy5jb226AQk0Njh4NjBfanPIAQHaATJodHRwOi8vYmFieS5sb3ZldG9rbm93LmNvbS93aWtpL0luZmFudF9BY2lkX1JlZmx1eIACAakCawhnUvjcrj6oAwHoA_4E6ANz6AOFBfUDAAAABA&num=4&sig=AGiWqtyMFlKZ6CY6FoB27aPNZ3CC3BPVvA&client=ca-pub-3619764495662405&adurl=http://www.sleepsense.net/assessment" onmouseout="window.status=''" onmouseover="window.status='go to www.sleepsense.net';return true">www.sleepsense.net</a></p><p class="ad"><a class="headline" href="http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/aclk?sa=l&ai=B1I944kNrSqXsCYP2jQSA1KyLC_LmsJcB_J_utA3AjbcBoIeFARACGAUghPj1ASgDOABQl83i0gZgyZb3jOSkrBOgAayqhPkDsgETYmFieS5sb3ZldG9rbm93LmNvbboBCTQ2OHg2MF9qc8gBAdoBMmh0dHA6Ly9iYWJ5LmxvdmV0b2tub3cuY29tL3dpa2kvSW5mYW50X0FjaWRfUmVmbHV4gAIByALixKAMqAMB6AP-BOgDc-gDhQX1AwAAAAQ&num=5&sig=AGiWqtxXO5tag9q8vEPo9eCzzSAkIKIj_A&client=ca-pub-3619764495662405&adurl=https://rewards.enfamil.com/Default.aspx%3Fbhcp%3D1%3Fsource%3DGoogleContent_SSM%26AdGroup%3DInfantFormula" onmouseout="window.status=''" onmouseover="window.status='go to www.Rewards.Enfamil.com';return true">Enfamil Baby Formula</a> - Enfamil Formula For Infants And Toddlers. If your baby experiences poor growth due to his inability to keep food in his stomach, then your doctor may need to prescribe medication. Some babies also refuse to eat because of the tummy pain they experience while feeding. Babies can also lose blood because of acid burning the esophagus. Breathing problems can also occur. If your infant experiences any of these problems, contact your doctor immediately. </p> <a name="Medications"></a><h2>Medications</h2> <p>For more severe cases of infant acid reflux, pediatricians often prescribe H2-blockers, such as Zantac, Pepcid, or Tagamet. Protone-pump inhibitors, such as Prevacid, Prilosec, and Nexium are also often prescribed. Surgery is sometimes needed, but your doctor should explore all options with you. </p> <a name="Help_For_Your_Infant"></a><h2>Help For Your Infant</h2> <p>You can help your infant be more comfortable by trying the following procedures. </p> <ul><li> Feed her more often, and make meals smaller. </li><li> Feed her in an upright position. </li><li> Attempt to burp her several times during her feeding. </li><li> Keep her upright for 30 minutes or so after feeding, </li><li> Do not overfeed your <a id="KonaLink2" target="undefined" class="kLink" style="text-decoration: underline ! important; position: static;" href="http://baby.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Infant_Acid_Reflux#"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 204) ! important; font-weight: 400; position: static;font-family:Arial;font-size:12px;color:#0000cc;" ><span class="kLink" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 204) ! important; font-weight: 400; position: static;font-family:Arial;font-size:12px;" >baby</span></span></a>. </li></ul>preventSIDShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06395343518153563915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5058323977512987955.post-53895096699349361362009-07-23T03:28:00.000-05:002009-07-23T03:29:49.730-05:00Chloe BeBe and Friends on Facebook<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.facebook.com/people/Chloe-Bebe/10000004"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 129px; height: 198px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd_37MYWUvJss-Ad9VYNgABGFgfrkjzyKgsKOlnBgFf_Gw4-o-bl_POtPbEFMhyphenhyphense2S0MHKF1hXL-AD5U6VGk579hZbMcBqmJLmxUQRmRUUSAw6flO4Ndfd3FzRl-I_JUNKAebFnw5AA/s320/chloe+facebook.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361569915700643154" border="0" /></a>preventSIDShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06395343518153563915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5058323977512987955.post-75518016441360169642009-07-23T03:25:00.000-05:002009-07-23T03:28:03.120-05:00Chloe BeBe Answers Questions on EHow!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.ehow.com/members/chloebebe.html"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 277px; height: 65px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxIxe0Fl6UVAlmIK5ypm3_RMEpzRL4panMztvUQxBbm5DMBBw1d5w3cOQO9MwpBmVIbeP_J0r4DQ17Oh99Hg7zfMwW8BPTtHH6GvgYzMnc86_G1GMwv6PYydfw-XI2DMSRx_ONm5f04w/s320/ehow.gif" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361569343013045602" border="0" /></a>preventSIDShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06395343518153563915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5058323977512987955.post-6277785710674378652009-07-23T03:24:00.001-05:002009-07-23T03:25:45.838-05:00Follow Chloe BeBe on Twitter!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://twitter.com/baby_pillows"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 246px; height: 57px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicUY6bg9Br8zZ0u6f3pXu4jK0GywGdsImzdGL9KFxQRAK9K6hzzRN2EfTS8hQ8HXn78x7bnDAtHNfSMO6dthW9KOmk-p691lAJ55u-lI1zpWB_LPOTT8QEzS4VD67Vtf4Jz_iVrYK3TA/s320/twitter_logo_header.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361568706463927106" border="0" /></a>preventSIDShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06395343518153563915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5058323977512987955.post-2512424202558801352009-07-23T03:18:00.000-05:002009-07-23T03:23:48.923-05:00See Chloe BeBe on YouTube!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.youtube.com/chloebebe2008"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 125px; height: 94px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDnIw28HHeIioPb1FcQIzEWMpyNcx5oL8kqMgPC7ufjQnrM0xxjhyphenhyphenXAIkctmkBjITYyAABqhMkxOWW0Bd2wxBuko1JOjNmW-52j-uKuODsHgc-eyMMuJmhZJC3cta4nh6RZjMmziasgw/s320/youtube.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361568121106188546" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/chloebebe2008"><br /></a>preventSIDShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06395343518153563915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5058323977512987955.post-52467901364163877932009-07-18T15:04:00.001-05:002009-07-18T15:12:40.766-05:00Prevent SIDS Now! (This includes naps.) <strong>DO NOT put a baby to sleep on its stomach. Side sleeping is unstable and should also be avoided.</strong> Allowing the baby to roll around on its tummy while awake can prevent a flat spot (due to sleeping in one position) from forming on the back of the head. </p><p class="PreventiParagraph adamPragraph"><strong>Only put babies to sleep in a crib</strong>. NEVER allow the baby to sleep in bed with other children or adults, and do NOT put them to sleep on surfaces other than cribs, like a sofa.</p><p class="PreventiParagraph adamPragraph"><strong>Let babies sleep in the same room (NOT the same bed) as parents.</strong> If possible, babies cribs should be placed in the parents' bedroom to allow for night-time feeding.</p><p class="PreventiParagraph adamPragraph"><strong>Avoid soft bedding materials.</strong> Babies should be placed on a firm, tight-fitting crib mattress with no comforter. A baby should not be hot to the touch.</p><p class="PreventiParagraph adamPragraph"><strong>Let the baby sleep with a pacifier.</strong> Pacifiers at naptime and bedtime can reduce the risk of SIDS. Doctors think that a pacifier might allow the airway to open more, or prevent the baby from falling into a deep sleep. A baby that wakes up more easily may automatically move out of a dangerous position. However, do not force the infant to use a pacifier. Although pacifier use has been associated with dental problems and breast-feeding difficulties, researchers say the potential benefit (decreased SIDS risk) outweighs the risks. The AAP says that one SIDS death could be prevented for every 2,733 babies who suck on a pacifier during sleep.</p><p class="PreventiParagraph adamPragraph"><strong>Do not use breathing monitors or products marketed as ways to reduce SIDS</strong>.
